Butty Style Narrowboats
Sian |
|
|
|
Name: Sian
Style: Trad - Butty N/B
Length: 70 feet
Description: Entrepreneurs and lateral thinkers will be interested
in Sian, a 70’ tradionally styled but recently built butty
(unpowered craft). Alternatively, it could be converted to a
wonderful, unique liveaboard by those with imagination and a
quest to be ‘a little bit different’. She has been
retired as a horse drawn holiday/trip boat on the Montgomery
canal, being purpose built in 2006 by Maestermyn using a quality
Reeves hull. The authentic large wooden tiller compliments the
boatmans cabin complete with boatman’s stove, fold down
table, fold down bed, numerous drawers and cupboards finished
with scumbling along with painted roses and castles. A light
painted deck head completes the effect. Delightful! Forward,
via a door to the utility/wet locker area fitted with side doors
to port and side hatch to starboard. Here also is the battery
storage area, 2kw inverter, 240v shoreline connection and the
Alde central heating boiler. Forward again, via a door, to the
bathroom, hygenically finished in white easy
to clean laminate and housing a shower, basin in vanity unit
and Thetford cassette toilet with spare. Forward to the functional
galley with fitted units to port side and side hatch opposite.
Equipment includes a New World burner hob/oven/grill, LEC fridge
and s.s.sink unit. Forward to the 22’observation lounge
with large panoramic windows and raised viewing/dining/seating
areas either side of the central gangway.A multfuel stove is
fitted in addition to the three radiators to provide warmth.
At the front of this area doors lead to the 11’ foredeck
with cratch and removeable outdoor bench seating for twelve
people. The whole interior forward of the boatmans cabin is
lined with attractive ash panel and has fitted carpet to the
lounge area and servicable vinyl floorcovering elsewhere.

continues in the galley, which has a full range of base units
both sides providing ample storage. There is a Vanette gas eye

fees at the time of writing (2010) are £270 per week which
includes a contribution to the boat fund for repaints, winter
repairs and large capital expenditure. New owners who are over
25 years are welcome and have relevant cruising experience or
are prepared to attend a helmsman’s course at their own
expense.
